From July 29th to 31st, 2022, 342 brands from 210 exhibitors, attended the ISPO Shanghai 2022 - Nanjing edition which was held in Nanjing for the first time, a total of 20,089 industry visitors and sports enthusiasts came to the party, an increase of 6% over the previous year.

 

Cutting-edge trends and innovative products covering sports lifestyles such as Camping Lifestyle, Outdoor, Running and Health & Fitness, Water sports, Climbing, Land surfing, Boxing, Yoga were presented at A/B/C halls Nanjing International Exhibition Center (NIEC).

 

Forums and related services regarding Textile & Technology, Sports Design, Cross-border E-commerce and other themes within the sports industry have all been integrated into this important sports lifestyle industry event in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

As a long awaited gathering of the sports and outdoor community, the success of ISPO Shanghai 2022 reflected the determination of the world to jointly develop sporting goods and related industries especially in challenging times. Many professional practitioners, energetic and passionate sports enthusiasts together with emerging sports lifestyles such as camping, land surfing and frisbee, showed the infinite possibilities, strength and determination of sustainable development in the industry.

 

Implement the concept of sustainable development for a better future

In recent years, sustainable development has gradually been implemented in all aspects of production and life, and ISPO has continued to pay attention and promote the development of this concept. Starting from the "Brands for Good" themed exhibition area in 2018, ISPO not only provides a platform for the brand's sustainable development initiatives, but also participates in the discussion and practice of the concept of sustainable development.

 

At the ISPO Shanghai 2022 - Nanjing edition, ISPO released the "Shared the Natural Home"plan jointly built with SEE (Society of Entrepreneurs and Ecology), and launched an initiative to all aspects of the industry through the "Declaration of Sustainable Action for Outdoor Sports".

 

Sustainability is an important part of the development of the sports industry and even the whole value chain. To ISPO, sustainability contains not only the concepts of environmental protection, recycling and low-carbon life, but also the mission of expanding the sports lifestyle industry, promoting the development of emerging activities, and establishing a sustainable sports life industry ecological circle. ISPO will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of the industry and do its best to fulfill this mission.

 

More emerging industries will appear, the formation of a platform for the interconnection of all sports and life categories is on the horizon.

ISPO has always accompanied the development of the sports industry. From 2019 to 2021, ISPO witnessed the industry stepping outside the established concepts with the booming trend of camping. This time, ISPO again captured the beginning of the rise of new sports lifestyle trends such as frisbee and land surfing. On the one hand, ISPO organizes demo shows to introduce new sports to the audience, on the other hand, it provides a stage for certain industries to accelerate their growth. Thus, ISPO is always trying to let more sports lifestyle to thrive which would also enrich the map of ISPO's segments planning.

 

Mr. Tobias Gröber, the Executive Director Business Unit Consumer-goods of the Messe München Group and Head of ISPO Group, said: "The urban sports style that we demonstrated this time including frisbee, land surfing, climbing is evolving.  We saw some winter sports brands bringing their new apparel collections for spring and summer, same with fashion sports presentations. Seasons and categories continue to blur which is why we will further develop the product segments at our platforms and create omni-category approach." In the future, ISPO will focus on expanding the scope and will also include new categories such as cycling.

 

Since its beginning, TMALL ISPO Choice has released three batches of carefully curated lists that recommended 235 pieces of remarkable products. There are also products which were usually not regarded as outdoor or sports related, but have now been selected, such as "sports skin care" and "outdoor coffee machine", at the exhibition, which further expands the range of our ISPO offerings.

 

At the same time, by inviting Xiaohongshu as the "Chief Content Partner", ISPO realized the interaction with the public audience in a wider range. The big amount of online content, in turn, attracted a crowd including frisbee, land surfing, RV, food and other KOLs and KOCs to the show.

 

Fen Hong Fei Fei (粉红霏菲), a KOL who has been working in the fitness field for many years, also expressed her understanding of stepping outside her comfort zone and field transition: "I was adjusting to my new role of being a mom when I first joined ISPO Shanghai as a promotion ambassador in 2020. I also founded my own MCN company in the past two years. The multiple role changes have given me an eclectic perspective. With the rapid development of the society and the emergence of new things, I believe that different fields or industry will hold their hands together to pursue good things and ultimately achieve multi-win win situations."

 

Following the pulse of the industry development, detect new trends.

As a professional business platform, ISPO has always been providing important policy interpretation, trend prediction and case analysis for the development of the industry through professional forums. In order to help the industry and all the companies in it to build up their strength to meet changes and challenges in the future. This time, ISPO hosted five major forums namely the Asia Pacific mountain outdoor industry sustainable development summit, Sports fashion trend forum, Outdoor sports industry innovation salon, China sporting goods industry cross-border e-commerce summit, and fitness and rehabilitation. ISPO focuses on data analysis from the developed industries, analysis of contemporary sports consumption trends, the future consumer portrait painting, forming solutions for the pain points of doing business overseas.

 

At the same time, ISPO has also prepared on-site activities for KOLs and sports lifestyle enthusiasts who want to have a try for the sports or lifestyle that they were not familiar with but are interested in, such as land surfing, frisbee, water sports like SUP, yoga, climbing or the sustainable public welfare photography exhibition. In addition, the Vanlife exhibition area which was a collaboration between ISPO and REMET, also provided food and beverage services through the form of a modified food truck to bring sports life closer to the public.

 

Not only that, but the outdoor "Car boot bazaar" extends the experience from 9am to 9pm, offering a cool summer experience that beats the hot weather of the Nanjing city.

The next ISPO Shanghai show will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) in June 2023, while ISPO Beijing 2022 will be held at the National Convention Center (Beijing) on December 9th-11th, 2022, with the heart of accelerating sports and booming the sports industry all the way.
