  • 2,279 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions (including 10 international pavilions)

  • 90,571 trade visitors from 72 countries and regions, with a marked upswing in international attendance

  • 10 governmental trade visitor delegations from domestic provinces and cities reinforced IE expo China's flagship position

Asia’s leading environmental show, IE expo China 2025, successfully concluded on April 23 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. This year’s edition brought together a high-caliber mix of domestic and global market leaders, reinforcing its role as a hub for cutting-edge solutions in water, waste, air and soil.

  • Strong government support and industry engagement

During China’s 14th Five-Year Plan period, ecological transformation has accelerated—driven by carbon reduction, pollution control, ecosystem restoration and coordinated development. IE expo China, the world’s second-largest environmental trade fair after IFAT Munich continues to reflect these strategic priorities. Vice Minister Huiwen Yu of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Deputy Secretary General Kejia Xia of the Shanghai Municipal Government were among the high-level visitors, while environmental departments from Shanghai, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Hunan, Gansu and Chongqing organized official trade and purchasing delegations. “Amid increasingly stringent regulations, demand for premium solutions is surging,” said Gang Jiang, Managing Director of Messe Muenchen Zhongmao Co., Ltd.

  • Driving innovation across the value chain

IE expo China 2025 showcased the full spectrum of environmental-technology sectors—water and wastewater treatment, solid-waste utilization, air-pollution control, soil remediation, environmental monitoring, integrated services and carbon-neutral technologies. Although the overall footprint was refined this year, the exhibition underscored the industry’s innovative momentum, with pronounced growth in specialized areas such as membrane filtration, advanced disinfection technologies and environmental monitoring .

DuPont Water Solutions made its debut at IE expo China, and Asia Pacific Marketing Communication Leader Coco Wang commented: “This platform not only spotlights our latest solutions but also deepens our insight into emerging market needs through interactive presentations and on-site demonstrations.” Likewise, Grundfos Shanghai Sales Manager Siping Ding noted: “Our digital-technology showcase generated high-quality leads and fostered in-depth discussions—reinforcing why IE expo China remains our top choice for engagement.”

  • Spotlight on start-ups and R&D excellence

The second start-up area hosted nearly 30 pioneering companies and research institutes, presenting forward-looking solutions and novel business models. In partnership with the Tsinghua Suzhou Environmental Innovation Research Institute, the Green Technology Innovation Application Competition and the IE expo China Innovation Show recognized ten standout scientific projects with national or international acclaim—underlining the fair’s commitment to catalyzing next-generation breakthroughs.

  • Connecting global markets

International participation remained a hallmark of IE expo China 2025. Outside mainland China, the largest exhibitor contingents came from Germany, Korea, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei), the USA and Japan. On the visitor side, procurement delegations from over ten overseas markets—among them Argentina, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) and Vietnam—contributed to a 56 percent rise in international attendance. “We received highly targeted overseas enquiries and achieved excellent exhibition results,” said Zhifeng Xue, Sales Director of Harden Machinery Ltd.

  • Enriching the visitor experience with expert forums

The China Environmental Technology Conference 2025 and its sub-forums once again served as knowledge hubs, featuring 36 sessions led by 460 speakers and attracting nearly 5,000 participants. Topics ranged from AI-driven water treatment and smart sludge recycling to battery and module repurposing, and carbon-capture developments. Prof. Xiaoyuan Zhang of IWA Young Water Professionals China Chapter remarked that the newly organized “Industry-Academia-Research Innovation Forum” provided an invaluable platform for cross-sector collaboration.

Complementing the technical program were dynamic on-site events, including the Top 100 Enterprises Awards, an environmental-sanitation vehicle roadshow, innovation showcases and product launches—each adding vibrancy and helping attendees forge new partnerships.
